Being an amateur should not stop you from printing your own custom postcards. However, you will stay an amateur if you do not heed some important advice and tips about designing and printing those postcards. So, do not remain to be an amateur. Read the items below to get the best tips that all amateurs should know about their custom postcards and the process of development. The more you know about these, the better and faster you can create great looking color postcards.

1. It is better to use a simple layout. The first thing that an amateur will want to do with his or her custom postcards is to be creative and distinct about it. While this is a good move, you must realize that in postcard design, the simplest layout is the best. Since postcards are pretty straightforward, you do not need complex layouts that just make it hard for readers to understand the message.

Most readers will probably ignore a postcard that has a layout which cannot be understood quickly within just 5 seconds. That is why for amateurs, it is best and easiest to just go for something simple.

2. High quality images rule. A big factor why simple layouts are recommended for amateurs is because high quality images rule. It is not the layout that matters really in custom postcards. It is the images that are crucial. The better the quality and the more creative the composition of the postcard image, the better for the custom postcard.

This is pretty obvious since we ourselves are pretty selective of what postcards we pickup. In many cases the better looking the picture the more we tend to go for it first. So you must be very particular with your images. Choose the best for your design. Make sure that they are composed by a professional photographer or digital artist.

3. Match the colors with the image. Of course, there should also be a kind of color scheme for your postcards. This will actually determine the colors of the text as well as the other elements such as the address lines, logos and other supporting graphics.

Make sure that the color schemes for these features match and compliment the colors present in your main cover image. Try to use color matching tools online if possible, to make sure that the design and the images meld together well with color harmony.

4. Fonts matter a lot. Remember that fonts matter a lot. They actually dictate part of the theme of your postcards. Use something fun and exotic and you will have an energetic postcard. Use something that is sleek and formal and you will have a professional business postcard.

You can use any of those kinds of fonts and all the different types in between to establish your particular kind of theme. Since this is the element that is the next important from images, you will want to think about and choose carefully in regards to font styles.

5. The paper will determine the overall quality. Finally, know that the paper will determine the overall quality of your postcards. Thicker is always better for postcards, but most importantly, the cover image should at least have a glossy smooth coating. This will determine the overall level of quality of the postcard.

If it is too rough too thin then you will have a cheap and very unreliable custom postcard. Use something too thick and too extravagant and those postcards might be impractical. So make sure you balance it well so that you can get the right quality that you want for postcard printing.

So those are the things you will want to know about amateur postcards. Review and remember all these when you start developing your own. Believe me, they will help a lot.

Best Museum Gift Shops
One of my favorite parts of a trip to any museum is exploring the gift shop. Usually stocked with unique goodies that highlight the niche of the museum, it’s kind of like the opposite of a gallery: you can actually touch and take home a piece of the exhibit. Another bonus of most museum gift shops? Free admission (unless you decide to buy something).

Postcards may seem like a think of the past when it comes to advertising. However, when matched up against several much more expensive strategies, postcards hold their own. They can be customized to fit the audience and create a personal relationship with the customer.

Not only can a postcard be filled with color and information, but since it can be stuck in your pocket, mailed out, used as a “take one” in a booth or even at a store or restaurant, a postcard can actually reach more people than a television ad. And can certainly be more permanent.

If you run an ad on TV, then you only have so many eyeballs that see it. Not only that, but if the ad isn’t at a great time, then that means even fewer eyeballs. However a postcard, costing just a few cents, can reach thousands more eyeballs than a TV ad can. One drawback to a TV ad is that more often than not, you can’t target your audience very well. While postcards can be custom designed for individuals or more general depending on the need.

For an existing customer base, postcards are great for introducing new products, invitations to special sales, or offering special discounts for being a great customer. Postcards can be used to pique interest when it comes to new services, or on services you already offer. Or, you can simply use a postcard to remind customers you are still around, eager to help them with anything they need when it comes to your products or services.

Postcards can also give you a quick and inexpensive way to drive customers to your booth at a trade show, or at a market. Even putting a map to an event or your place of business on a postcard means you can show a customer where you are, making it that much easier for them to actually connect to you in person. Postcards are great for reminders for meeting dates and times and can be put on a bulletin board or fridge, always in the recipients view.

Postcards can deliver an immense amount of information to a potential client or to an existing customer. Using them effectively isn’t just an inexpensive way to do business, it’s an inexpensive way to do GREAT business. From offering discounts to introducing amazing new services or simply as a reminder of upcoming events, as far as the personal relationship side that customized communication can create, postcards are a valuable asset!

Postcards are print materials that will not go out of style. Years ago, postcards have been used by our families and relatives in keeping in touch with each other. Visiting other places was never complete without sending a bunch of postcards to those left at home. During holiday seasons and special occasions, too, postcards were popular. These were used to send heartfelt greeting to friends and loved ones. These days, when instant messaging and modern technologies, postcards are still used by those who love to have keepsakes. Postcards are placed in memory boxes as memorabilia. These postcards are way more charming that chat messages and emails and are preferred by many people. For sure, postcards will be appreciated by anyone you know.

If you are looking for a way of sending greetings, you may want to make postcards. On your spare time, you can do custom postcard printing which can be really easy to do. For custom postcard printing, you will need paper stock which should be have thicker width, ink type for printing, and of course, your personal computer as well as inkjet printer. See, you do not need special machinery or high tech equipment to do custom postcard printing. In the comfort of your own home and in your most convenient time, gather your friends and family members, so you can do custom postcard printing together. This can be your bonding activity. Kids can do custom postcard printing with the help of adults. They can send their postcards to their friends and classmates come school breaks and summer vacations.

If you are not familiar with how custom postcard printing works, here are some essential guidelines:

- Select the materials you need. You can find paper stock inside your own home. If not, go to the nearest supply store for this printing essential. Choose quality paper stock, one that does not tear easily. Bear in mind that your paper stock should withstand shipping, transport and delivery.

- For the ink type, there are those that give off an unusual sheen. There are ink types that are metallic, adding value to the prints. Find out what ink types have special qualities that you can use. This may come expensive, so if you are working on a limited budget, you can always make use of your laser or inkjet printer.

- Make use of full color when custom postcard printing. You do not want your postcards to look bleak and boring. Use full color especially if you are going to make use of images. Make sure that the images are of high resolutions as the prints may be pixilated in the end.

- Set the measurement for your postcards. Stick with the usual sizes and shapes, but you can also make it doubly fun if you choose non-traditional ones. Kids will surely enjoy getting postcards shaped into their favorite cartoon characters or animals.

- Before you print your cards, have a sample. In this way, you can minimize erros. On the get go, you can already know which design elements you need to improve. You may encounter problems with bordering and indentations, so you need to work on this before mass printing.

- Avail of mailing services if you wish to distribute a huge number of postcards. Mailing companies can offer you services that are affordable and reputable.
